Projects & files
One file carries everything. The .es3d bundle is self-contained
— data, story, styling, settings — and your work is protected three ways:
the project file, cloud saves, and a continuous local autosave.
The .es3d project file
Data panel → Project file (.es3d) → Open / Save .es3d. The bundle carries your layers (with geometry), drill databases, the story with narration clips and panorama images, annotations, styling and the settings the figures were built under — open it anywhere and the project is whole. Newer builds write leaner bundles (derived geometry is rebuilt on open rather than stored), and old bundles always keep opening.
Block models are stored compactly: positions to well under a millimetre, block sizes as a short table (a sub-blocked model has only a few), and attribute values to seven significant figures, more than any assay or estimate carries. A 2.9-million-block model with nine attributes takes 149 MB instead of 343 MB, which is what lets a project holding one autosave and save to the cloud. Projects saved this way need this version of ES3D or later to open.
Cloud projects
Signed in, the Cloud projects section saves and opens projects from your private storage, with rename and delete, upload progress and cancel — large bundles upload resumably. Signed out, it says exactly what to do; on a deployment without cloud sync configured, a chip states that projects save to this device only.
Sign-in
Passwordless: enter your email, get a one-time sign-in link. The terms checkbox is recorded with the exact version you read (see Terms). Signing out with a cloud project open confirms first, so you never strand unsaved work by accident.
Your free trial and plan
Anyone can explore the sample deposit and view shared tours without an account. To bring in your own data, save to the cloud and publish, start a free 7-day trial: press Start free trial on exploration.rocks, or try an import in the app and it will offer one. Sign in with your work email; no card is needed.
- While the trial runs, a line under the top bar shows the days left, with Choose a plan beside it.
- When it ends, the account is paused: you can still open, export and delete your projects, but saving, publishing and your published tours are paused — their addresses and embeds say the presentation is paused until you choose a plan.
- Choosing a plan takes you to a secure card checkout (Stripe). As soon as it goes through, everything un-pauses, published addresses included, with nothing to re-publish.
- Changing your card or cancelling: if a payment fails, the line under the top bar offers Update card, and your tours stay live while the card is retried. A cancelled plan runs to the end of the period you paid for.
Autosave & recovery
- The status chip in the top bar is always visible — last-saved time and size, or “Autosaving…” while writing.
- The recovery banner on load offers to restore unsaved work from a prior session — Restore or Discard, your call.
- The warning banner tells you (once per cause) when autosave can't protect you — for example a project too large for the browser's storage.
Saving a .es3d or a cloud project clears the autosave slot — the file is
now the truth.
Report a problem
The Report pill sits beside the Ask dock in Pro and on every Present surface — including shared links and embeds, so a confused investor can tell you directly. The dialog asks what went wrong, disclosing exactly what's attached, and confirms “Report sent”.
Trust & data ownership
- The honesty badge — the Data checks passed chip expands to the app's own automated consistency checks, item by item, with severities. It deliberately does not say “verified” — these are consistency checks, not a third-party attestation. Its CRS item routes straight to the fix.
- Provenance — audit exports carry the app version and build.
- Your data stays yours — ES3D processes your data solely to provide the service, never trains models on it, and never sells it. The AI import assist sends only header names and redacted per-column statistics — raw cells never leave the browser, and everything works offline. See the Privacy Policy.
